American Airlines has developed a foot fetish.
It might sound a little kinky, but it's actually an ingeniouspromotional gimmick from a carrier known for being an aggressivemarketer. AA recently mailed out more than 200,000 pairs of socks tohelp drum up interest in its new, roomier coach-class configurationnow available on nearly the entire fleet.
The socks, usually offered only to passengers in the carrier'sbusiness and first-class cabins, were accompanied by a witty coverletter addressed to the feet of the intended recipients.
