SA: Grain ship smashes into wharf

ADELAIDE, April 10 AAP - A grain ship crashed into the wharf at Wallaroo on South Australia's
Yorke Peninsula today causing an estimated $500,000 damage.

Police said the 52,000 tonne Amarantos apparently hit the wharf as it was about to
dock, just after dawn.

The impact caused extensive damage to the wharf structure although the ship was not
damaged and no-one was hurt.

The circumstances of the incident were being investigated.
