Page 1 - The Reserve Bank yesterday cut official interest rates for the third time
in two months, signalling that it will act forcefully to head off recession and bolster
confidence.

Page 2 - The WorkCover deficit could blow out further, with a "serious danger" of insurers
paying claims without proper assessment and workers spending more time on benefits, the
State's peak employers' group warned yesterday.

Page 3 - The former chairman of NRMA Insurance Group Ltd, Nick Whitlam, was a no-show
at yesterday's board meeting which endorsed Rowan Ross as his interim successor.

World - Requests for the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, to renounce violence between
his people and Israelis may be in vain, with Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak warning that
it is wrong to believe Arafat can halt the unrest with a few words.

Finance - Market commentators tipped the Reserve Bank could move on rates again within
the next two months after yesterday's "bold" move to cut rates to head off the threat
of a faltering US economy and sagging confidence.

Sport - Corporate bookmaker Michael Sullivan yesterday laid Gai Waterhouse's Golden
Slipper favourite Royal Courtship to lose $350,000 in a single wager after a client had
$100,000 on the two-year-old.
