QLD: Coalition takes credit for increased police numbers
Queensland's opposition says the state's record police numbers are the direct result of the
former Coalition government's policies.
Queensland has 7,132 officers stationed across the state following an increased number of
graduates in the past 18 months.
Opposition police spokesman MIKE HORAN says the police recruiting program was up and
running and fully funded by the previous government.
He says Premier PETER BEATTIE and Police Minister TOM BARTON have just had to sit back and
wait for the officers to graduate.
Mr HORAN says that to the credit of the BEATTIE government, it has maintained the
Coalition's interstate recruitment program.
