Abstract
A total of 47 chickpea (Cicer arietinum L) accessions including 21 induced mutation lines, 17 hybrid lines, 5 local cultigens, and 4 non-nodulating lines were examined for their growth characteristics in the field. Genotypes of these accessions were also examined using 10 SSR (microsatellite) markers. Eight of the 10 markers were polymorphic and the number of alleles ranged from 2 to 16, with the average of 7.4 per locus. PIC values ranged from 0.227 to 0.876, with an average of 0.636.
